First let’s look at the light indicators. The lighted errors show up on the ring around your power button. If you looks it is divided into 4 sections. Which sections are lit up will tell you which error you are having.
For this explanation the top left will be one and it will go around clockwise numbered 1-4.
If sections 1, 3 and 4 are lit up that means you have a general hardware failure.
Sections 1 and 3 means your console is overheating and you should turn it off immediately and give it time to cool.
Section 4 flashing alone is also a hardware failure. This is usually related to the DVD and should have the following on screen warnings to tell you which problem you have.
E45: Unknown
E64: DVD Timeout, DVD doesn’t have f/wchip,
E66: DVD Drive Error.
E67-E69 & E79: Hard Drive Error
E73: Ethernet Port failure.
E74: AV Cable Error
There are also a range of onscreen codes for when your XBOX console is overheating. They include: 0010, 0011, 0012 and 0013. Although there is a very good likely hood that if your unit is overheating it could turn off before you see any of the indicators. Any XBOX that is just randomly turning off is probably overheating.
So now that you have diagnosed what is likely wrong with your XBOX based on the error code you are probably wondering how you are going to fix it. Well you have a few different options available to you when it comes to XBOX repair.
The first option is that you send your XBOX to Microsoft for service. Although you will get a working unit back in the mail there are a few drawbacks. The biggest one is time to get your XBOX serviced by Microsoft it can take up to 3-4 weeks not only that but if you are not under warranty it will run you $140 to get your XBOX serviced.
The other option is to find a XBOX repair service in Los Angeles but you are still likely going to have to leave the unit for at least a few days to a week and it will cost you money. There is another option though that most people haven’t even considered.
That option is to fix it yourself. I know you might be thinking I am crazy but it is much easier than you think. With about an hour of your time and little to no money you could be back in business with your XBOX playing your favorite game.
